Patrick was raised in the midwest in Illinois and Wisconsin. Upon his first hands-on experience with clay and the pottery process he knew that he had found his match in medium. He specializes in functional items, from plates, bowls, and cups to versatile small wares that provide usefulness in any room. Patrick’s philosophy on functional ware was further influenced by his time in the restaurant industry. Throughout his twenties he worked in many restaurants in downtown Richmond, Virginia. He learned two things about functional pottery: that a great meal should be served on a comparable dish, and that well designed vessels make cooking and serving an easier more fluid process. His intention is that pottery is used in everyday life. He believes that creating art that is used daily brings even more meaning and value to the piece.
