This exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The show is open to all artists and all mediums. The theme for this exhibit is recycling. The artwork is comprised of found or recycled objects incorporated into a painting or sculpture. Any medium is acceptable as long as recycled attributes are included. This exhibit will be in the Skylight Gallery.
1st Place – Eat My Heart Out by Rebecca Visger, Paper Mache, fabric, cardboard, bubble wrap, beads, yarn, acrylic paint, and umbrella parts on wood $255
2nd Place – Floral Sofa and Modern Art by Sarah Gibson Wiley, Outdated fabric memo samples, used or donated fabric, $1675
3rd Place – Amazing Autumn Alure by Elizabeth Shumate, Recycled fabric, notions framed in window sash, $995
Honorable Mention – 7 PM by Anne Mullin, Mixed Media Collage, $175 H
Juror: The juror for this exhibit was Eric Rivera Barbeito. Barbeito was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and received his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2017. Rivera Barbeito integrates a multimedia approach to his practice to give visual representation to concepts relevant to the present condition between Puerto Rico and the United States. Rivera Barbeito currently lives and works in Baltimore, was an Artist-in-Residence at the Vermont Studio Center and has been included in group exhibitions at Towson University, School 33, Terrault Contemporary and Tiger Strikes Asteroid Philadelphia.
