Lilla Ohrstrom

Studio 123

Lilla Ohrstrom is a sculptor whose primary medium is clay, which she kiln fires or casts into bronze. See her sculptures in her studio at Art Works!

Lilla’s work explores the contradictions of form and space, driven by a fascination with the idea that what appears solid is often composed of unseen voids. This tension between presence and absence fuels her creative process, as she seeks to communicate through images that speak on a deeper, often mysterious level. For Ohrstrom, sculpture is not just a means of expression but a way to understand and connect with herself and others.

Her artistic journey has taken her across prestigious institutions, including the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Parsons School of Design in Paris, The School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, and The New School in NYC. She also studied privately with renowned sculptors Cyril Heck in Paris and Felix de Weldon in Rhode Island. Holding a BS in Sculpture from Skidmore College and a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from The George Washington University, Ohrstrom’s diverse educational background informs her work, which is deeply rooted in emotion and a desire to heal the spirit.

Through her sculptures, Lilla Ohrstrom explores the intersection of curiosity, grace, and personal understanding, with the hope that her art will not only help her understand her own world but enliven and elevate the world of those who experience it.
