With 82 artist studios and 6 diverse galleries, there’s always something new to see! Our artists create and sell their unique pieces right from their studios.

Visit Art Works for free admission, open to the public from Tuesdays through Sundays, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Come immerse yourself in the art and creativity!

Parking

Park on the street or use the public garage located on East 5th Street, only 1 block from the art center. Cost is only $3 per hour. For 4th Friday Opening Receptions, special parking arrangements are made. Check our calendar for details about the exhibits.

Glenda Kotchish
Glenda KotchishOwner
Glenda is the owner of Art Works, a sculptor, painter, storyteller and illustrator. She is our fearless leader and the heartbeat of the Gallery. Her background is in IT and banking. In 2003 she saw the potential for Manchester to become a vibrant community and purchased the building for Art Works. She set about making the art center inclusive to all artists and the community.
Jessie Boyland
Jessie BoylandGallery Director
Jessie graduated from VCU School of the Arts. She is the Gallery Director at Art Works where she works with artists to plan and execute exhibits and special projects. She has juried numerous art competitions for organizations throughout Virginia and worked with national and international artists. Outside of work, Jessie enjoys being a mom to her two girls and figure drawing in her spare time.
Chris Schoen
Chris SchoenCommunity Ambassador
Chris Schoen joined Art Works in 2022, first as a resident artist and then as part of our non-profit, RVA Thriving Artists.

Chris organizes the Queer Life Drawing sessions. You’ll see him on 4th Fridays managing the bar.

Emma Glenn is a multidisciplinary artist and gallery administrator at Art Works, where her passion for creative community and organization intersect. A dedicated art student, Emma found early inspiration in the collaborative, diverse environments that art spaces cultivate.
Colleen Burke
Colleen BurkeAdministrator
Colleen Burke is an administrator at Art Works, where her academic background and global perspective support the gallery’s mission and daily operations. She earned a double major in Art History and Mandarin Chinese from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Bill Kotchish
Bill KotchishAccountant
Bill Kotchish is the behind-the-scene force that manages the bookkeeping and taxes for Art Works. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Math.
