January – February 2027 Exhibits

4th Friday returns January 22 with new exhibitions, live music, and an evening with the artists.

Featured exhibitions include 8News: Honoring Black History in Richmond, photography by Bollin Millner, paintings by Emmy Turner, the monthly All Media Show, and a new Community Bridge Project artist- Florence Odessa Hott.

Join us for 4th Friday on January 22 from 6–8 p.m. Meet the artists, explore the exhibitions, and enjoy live music. The exhibits continue through February 20, 2027. The reception and parking are free.

The art center is open Tuesday through Sunday 11 am – 5 pm and it’s free and open to the public.  Enjoy the exhibits and have lunch in Manchester RVA.

8News: Honoring Black History in Richmond

In recognition of Black History Month, 8News comes together with BAAAR (Black American Artist Association of Richmond) and community partners at Art Works for an exhibition honoring Black history and its connections to Richmond.

Through photography, painting, video, mixed media the exhibition brings together journalistic history and artistic perspectives to share stories of Richmond’s Black community—past and present.

The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin, Port I and Port II galleries from January 22, 2027– February 20, 2027.

Life Goes On: Flowers to Seeds by Bollin Millner

Life Goes On: Flowers to Seeds follows flowers from vibrant blossoms to fading petals and delicate seed forms, showing how nature continues to transform long after the bloom has faded. Through photography, Bollin Millner celebrates the beauty found in every stage of nature’s cycle of growth and renewal.

This exhibit will be in the Centre Gallery at Art Works from January 22, 2027– February 20, 2027.

The Community Bridge Project – Florence Odessa Hott

RVA Thriving Artists is excited to welcome a new artist to the Community Bridge Project: Florence Odessa Hott. Hott presents: Box Dolls. Free exhibit space is provided in the upstairs Bridge Project gallery at Art Works, along with mentorship and educational support. The program provides guidance on developing a theme, creating a cohesive body of work, preparing for exhibition, and promoting the show.

The exhibit continues through February 28, 2027.

January 2027 All Media Show

Each month Art Works invites artists to submit their work in an open call-for-entries. These exhibits are a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. There is no theme for this exhibit—so anything goes, any topic and any medium. This is a juried show with cash prizes. This exhibit will be in the Skylight Gallery at Art Works from January 22, 2027– February 18, 2027.

Remnants by Emmy Turner

Remnants explores the idea that nothing truly disappears. Emmy Turner turns her attention to the overlooked, unfinished, and discarded—fragments that carry traces of what came before and become foundations for something new. Through her paintings, memory and imagination converge as the past is transformed and carried forward.

This exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery at Art Works from January 22, 2027– February 20, 2027.
