Coughing up the Bones by Peter Allen
Peter Allen’s exhibit explores perception, reality, and illusion. Inspired by artists like Jasper Johns and Marcel Duchamp, Allen re-contextualizes everyday images and objects, infusing them with deeper meaning. His works blend visual detritus, text, and poetry, challenging viewers to reconsider their perceptions. Some of Allen’s work manipulate time and space, questioning the possibility of fully understanding reality. This exhibit invites viewers on a journey to explore the complexities of human perception.
The exhibition will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery at Art Works and will continue through January 17, 2026.
Viewpoint by Jason Bryant
Jason Bryant delves into the deeper layers of identity through his portraiture. Viewing portraits as blueprints, Bryant incorporates elements like favorite foods, music, and movies, reflecting the intricate fabric of life. His recent series blends his love of skateboarding with portraiture, using vibrant skateboard graphics alongside black and white images of actors and actresses. By obscuring certain features, Bryant adds mystery and prompts viewers to question what lies beneath the surface. This exhibit offers a fresh perspective on traditional portraiture, revealing deeper truths about identity.
The exhibit will be in the Port I Gallery at Art Works through January 17, 2026.
RPMG Group Show
The Richmond Photography Group is a vibrant collective of photography enthusiasts who meet bimonthly to practice their skills, exchange tips, and build lasting friendships. The exhibit showcases a diverse range of photographic styles and subjects, reflecting the unique perspectives of the group’s members.
The exhibit will be in the Port II Gallery at Art Works through December 28, 2025.
Art of the Ordinary by George Tisdale
George Tisdale’s exhibit highlights everyday objects often overlooked in art. Through a mix of whimsy and straightforwardness, Tisdale’s paintings elevate commonplace items, inviting viewers to see the extraordinary in the mundane. Each piece features a familiar object, with titles that enhance the viewer’s appreciation and understanding.
The exhibit will be in the Corner Gallery at Art Works through January 17, 2026.
