Studio 150

Shelley OConnor is a fiber artist working in wet and needle-felted wool.  See her studio at Art Works!

About the Artist:
“Silk, bamboo, flax and beading are incorporated into my work. Inspiration comes from my time outdoors walking through a forest or along a beach. When felting I can feel the energy of the wool as it transforms into felt, the use of color heightens the energy I feel and the piece has. Examples of my work can be seen on the Facebook page of OASIS Fine Art and Craft Harrisonburg, VA.

Originally from the Tidewater area Shelley recently returned to the states after living in Spain and now resides in the Richmond area. As a child she learned to embroider from her Australian mother, she has had a lifelong love of textiles and learned to weave in her forties. After taking a course in felting in Gloucester she fell in love with the medium. Online courses and classes at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts have increased her love of this art form.”
