Carol Gruppe is an artist whose passion for the sea and the Chesapeake Bay shines through in her work. Growing up in a household where music and turpentine were always present, she developed a deep appreciation for the arts.  As a devoted sailor, Carol’s love for the salty air and ever-changing weather is evident in her paintings. Carol’s work is a beautiful reflection of the world around her as she is a life-long resident near the water. The rusty anchor chains and patinaed hardware she sees while walking down the docks, the big dramatic skies she never tires of, and the marshes in autumn are all brought to life in her art. Her preferred mediums of oil and cold wax, as well as acrylic paint, allow her to create pieces that are not only visually stunning but also evoke a range of emotions.
